“I love when you use human phrases.”

This week was all about the second half of Redfall: Burial Point. This map is much more active than Redfall Commons, with a nicer variety of areas and enemies (with two different vampire cults mulling about), and lots of locations to explore. But, since there are plenty of collectible guides now, I kept it pretty locked down and only visited areas I needed to go to for those collectibles, missions, or other achievements. No more having to scour every inch of the map for those dang glowing strands of hair! This meant I blew through the remaining missions much faster than I did last week, and it wasn’t long until I was facing off against the final Vampire god. Who…wow, was SO easy. In fact, the first boss is easily the most difficult. Miss Whisper can also be kinda tough, but otherwise Bloody Tom and The Black Sun were utter chumps. Heck, you technically don’t even fight the final boss, instead running around an arena and interacting with victims to untether them from her. And that was it for my first playthrough!

All I had left was an unfortunately annoying mission-specific achievement in “The Lost Unit”, where you have to collect the contents of three crates and read a document without setting off any tripwire mines inside a cave full of vampires. It is one of the first side missions you can stumble across as you enter Burial Point, and I first attempted the mission as Remi, my main character, but wasn’t aware I was in that mission until it was too late and I’d set off a mine. So I leveled my second character, Devinder (that I also used for some of the achievements I missed last week), up past The Hollow Man fight so I could attempt the mission again. And this time, I learned quickly that the vampires will also trip the mines and cause you to invalidate the achievement. Third attempt, I had to level up a whole new character, this time I chose Jacob; figured his stealth would help with getting around the cave unseen. Even better, one of his later skills allows his stealth to bypass the tripwires altogether! So, that’s what I did, slowly creeping around the cave and waiting in blindspots for my ability to recharge. It was no problem and the achievement popped as soon as I opened the final crate. I’ll be honest, overall I liked Jacob more than the other two characters I’d tried, so I went ahead and continued his playthrough to my final achievement: completing “One Of Us” using the alternate method from my original playthrough. Easy peasy, and I was done with my time in Redfall! I think my opinion of the game is good bit higher than it was my first week, so I’ve landed on this one being a recommendation. It’s dumb fun, and an easy enough completion overall.

Alright, bird-breath. Go find me some bloodsuckers to destroy.

With the vamps put down, it was time to turn my attention to the next games leaving Game Pass. I had wanted to get around to Lawn Mowing Simulator, but it takes too long and my life has gone chaotic again. So I instead decided on the much shorter and easier Floppy Knights to play for now. It’s a grid-based strategy game where you play cards to either summon units, attack, or move. And that’s kinda all there is to it, basically. You also have secondary objectives in each mission to mark off for the completion (finish without losing a unit, finish in x turns, etc.). I’m not sure how the game was before the 2.0 update, but there are now accessibility options that make the game much easier, so I’m having zero issues just clearing through the game. I made it to the fifth set of levels, and have been clearing the corresponding challenge levels as I go. I even cleared a good chunk of the unneeded side missions that give you extra cards. Been sticking with the Plants deck, with some Monster and Prototype cards mixed in. I can’t imagine I won’t have this completed by my next entry.
