“You brought death with you.”

Achievements Earned In:

Not much left to do in Spirittea as the week began. I finally crossed into the second year in the town, unlocking the achievement for doing so and allowing access to the final townsperson I needed to fully befriend. I also needed to serve the Spring Lord, but it took a while for it to actually show up to the bathhouse, stretching into Monday. Once I had them well-served and they’d given me the final mask I needed, I could complete the ritual in the cave, sleep until Summer, catch the stupid butterfly I’d missed to complete my collection, then finish my book and move out of town. What a cute and easy game! Glad I got to this before it left Game Pass.

It was nice meeting and serving you all!

Before diving into anything new, I figured I’d do some cleanup. I’m still not done with Power Rangers Super Samurai, but I managed to get my second playthrough completed in one run, along with most of the miscellaneous achievements related to the campaign. I still have one for defeating Dayu without getting hit with any poison attacks, and that one may be tough with how finicky the Kinect can be. Next will be the Hard-difficulty playthrough, which I will hopefully get to soon. But every time I play this I get pretty sore, since I have to swing my arm so much to get any attacks to land. It’s a lot of work being a Ranger!

Yes, I am too cool.

The rest of the week was a little messy, as I got sick for two days, then busy for another two, so I leaned on Webgeon Speedrun Edition a fair bit to keep my streak going. Simple and easy, since it was still only the first 15 levels.

When I finished Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II last May, I kinda figured that would be it. The previous game hadn’t received any additional achievements, so surely this wouldn’t either! Well, I hadn’t foreseen the great Xbox migration to PlayStation, and to celebrate this game being one of those to get ported they added an “enhanced edition” to the game. This sadly included an achievement tied to a new difficulty: Dark Rot, a mode where everything hits like an aggressive tank and you only have four lives until it’s permadeath. This can be circumvented with some good ole save scumming, but this doesn’t make it a cakewalk. The enemies are brutal, and you have to be quick to block and dodge the onslaught even the basic enemies throw your way. Then you have fire, axes, and spears being instant death! To top it off, I was sick Wednesday and Thursday as I attempted this. The TA solution suggested sacrificing three of your lives to make it through the two hardest fights: the ritual battle at the end of Chapter 2, and the village defense battle at the end of Chapter 5. I definitely let myself lose a life on that first one, but actually managed to dance like a butterfly in the latter and emerged unscathed! I have to say, I’m not sure how one does this legit. This would be so difficult and insanely frustrating! Ugh, whatever, I got it.
